My learning style

Yesterday I did a questionnaire to learn more about my Learning Style. I was very surprised to find that I could identify perfectly with the conclusion. For the first time, I have a clear idea of my Learning Style, which will prove very helpful for my future studies.
There are four kinds of people categorised on the basis of their Learning Styles- theorist, activist, pragmatist and reflector. After I finished the questionnaire, the result showed that I am a pragmatist.A pragmatist is keen to put new techniques, ideas, theories into practice. I think it is quite true for me. For example, after I have learnt something new, I am eager to know how it can work in practice. If it is not practicable, I cannot be bothered to memorize it.
This may not be very good for my study. I remembered once I had a disagreement with my Chinese teacher after the exam. He gave us the standard answer, and insisted that all other answers were  wrong. Since the question was about the understanding of a passage, I thought it was impossible for every student to get the same understanding out of the passage. Different people have different understandings based on their different backgrounds. But the teacher cannot bothered to explain to me further , saying “Why don't you just remember it?”. Feeling rather frustrated, I did not want to do this exercise. For a time, I just felt forced to do it only for the college entrance examination.
I think being a pragmatist has both advantages and disadvantages, and what matters is to make a balance or not. Every learner shares those four styles at the same time. The most successful person is the one who knows how to balance them properly.
Since I have learnt my learning style, I will choose  things that are suitable for me. For example, later I have to decide my major in university. Then I will choose a practical one instead of a theoretical one. Now I know studying learning style is as important as studying itself.

  1. I appreciate your personality of being practical, but I don't think you should be forced to study. As for the topic and construction, it's pretty associated--opening paragraph, introduction of your style, giving examples, and making a conclusion. Well done! Another advice is that you should explain the advantages and disadvantages of your style in the second last paragraph more clear, because it's vital part of the composition.

  3. Chen Zhe, you write a really good blog.
The organization of your blog is typical. You have very clear beginning 、body and conclution.Your blog has some advantages for me to learn.

However, in my view, I think the body of your blog is not that support your opinion. You are a pragmatist, so you always keen to put new techniques, ideas, theories into practice. But I think the body of your blog does not have much relationship with your topic. The final sentences you tell us you would do your own decision, and you will choose practical one instead of theoretical one. However, I think these sentences do not really suit your topic.

    I really appreciate your blog.

  5. Dear Chen Zhe

Congratulations! You went on a self-discovery journey and are now able to understand your own learning strategies better.

The bottom line is ... "Use the method that you are most comfortable and happy with and the results will speak for themselves."

You write well except for some incorrect words used eg "for my studies instead of...for my study" and "...just memorise it instead of ...just remember it."

    Keep up the good work!

    Wilson
