About a beautiful mind:opinions that are not in my essay4

Last week we wrote our reflective essay about the film a beautiful mind. Since that we should write complete and consistent essay, so I only talked about the good facets of the film, but i actually have some other kind of opinions. In order to be fair and honest, i should express those opinions as well.
First, the film is talking about a mathematician, a real figure in the world. However, the feeling the film gave me was that it is telling a story of a wizard or a priest or anyone who is psychic. The way the hero got achievements in the film was not by hard working or great understanding of knowledge, but it was like the hero was suddenly inspired by the blonde girl in front of him or god. The way the hero broke the code was even more like a magic-just by looking at a screen full of number and thinking even without a pen. This is passing a wrong message to the children who watch it that what it takes to have great achievements is just being incredibly talented and intelligent.
Second, the way the film deals with love is a little bit surreal, at least a little bit overoptimistic. The hero in the film at first was not kind, patient, polite, or anything. In brief, he was just weird and conceited. However he suddenly got lucky that one of his students somehow became very interested in him and fascinated by him and even asked him to dinner and the first time they went out together they acted as if they had been couples for a long time. I have to say that this is “possible, but not likely”. This may make the audience think that the only reason he found his true love is because of the screenwriter! And I guess nowadays why so many people have some unrealistic and illusory expectations of love is because of such kind of fairy-tale-like plots.
Anyway, this film is just a product labeled Hollywood. Considering this point, it is better not to take it too serious. Maybe when it becomes rigorous enough, it may have become a documentary which seldom will people have the eager to watch it. After all, it is an inspiring movie and we learnt some English.

  1. Well, I have to say that you are right. Some plots are exaggerated by the film makers but that is acceptable, at least for me because they do not affect the main idea the movie wants to convey-to show the legendary mathematician's life and his "beautiful mind". Actually, Alicia was not John's first wife. He married someone before and abandoned that woman. Anyway, we enjoyed the film. That is enough!
