My favorite singer — Stefanie

My relatives and my friends sometimes ask me why I choose to come to Singapore and I don’t quite enjoy this topic, so I always answer that “because my favorite singer Stefanie lives in Singapore.” However, it is certainly true that Stefanie, whose Chinese name is Sun Yanzi, remains being my favorite singer for a long time.

The first song of Stefanie I listened was Encounter, about which I was crazy for nearly a month. The word “crazy” means that I was listening to it continuously every night for one whole hour. It is well known that her most famous song is Dark Dark Sky from her first album Sun Yanzi and many people are so moved by the lyrics. The last sentence in this song which says, you have to move on even though it is raining heavily, gives many people incredible strength when they are having a hard time through their work and relationship.

Stefanie has such a wide influence across Asia or even across the world. However, in spite of many famous directors’ invitation, Stefanie sticks to her principles that she just wants to do well in music. She wants to lead a simple life and that is one reason why she stays silent for four years. Stefanie has such a distinct voice that she gives the best explanation to those beautiful but finally fading love stories. In Stefanie’s songs, Stefanie often describes a girl who still strives for romantic love even though she is hurt again and again. For instance, every time I listen to the rainy days, which is forever my favorite song, I can feel the sorrow and courage beneath her rhythmic voice.

I admire Stefanie most for her integrate and benevolent characters. When she is giving a concert, she never does any garish or peculiar movements like many other women singers. She just stands and sings, letting the audience enjoy the sound of nature. Every time she is asked to give an autograph or a group photo, she always satisfies her fans and never loses temper. I really cannot wait to see her live performances in Singapore.

Now she is back with her new album It’s time after four years’ silence. Her new album is so fantastic that it makes people believe a legend will never vanish.
