my visit to SAM

This wedenesday, we went to the singapore arts museum. After this visti, I am more confirmed that modern arts only belong to a certain group of people. During the visit, I was looking at not appreciating the works of arts in the museum almost every moment because I cannot understand teh majority of them. Most of them especially those in the special exhibition gallery show more or less features of modernism or post-modernism. Their creators use broken parts of human body or twistted world to express their feelings such as the anger and sorrow towards the silent and tolerant people in the Pinkman, hatred towards the horrable, stupid and superstitous action of burning people and whatever. Moreover, one series of paintings nearly shocked me to death and I feel depressed even after I left the singapore arts museum. In the first picture, a fat man wears a very frightened and scared expression on his face and his right hand straight points to the right side of his body. I think this finger in thsi paainting is excellent because the finger leads you to look at the following painting when you when your curiosity is sparked by his expression. In the folowing painting, the man killes himself on his throat. Then, in the third painting, the fat man stands on four with some broken pieces of his organ split out. and his lower part of body is bocoming onr of a women. In the final painting, the man gets on his, maybe her is more proper because he turns into a woman, feet and walks forewards like a dull zombia. In my opinion, this series shows that nowadays an increasing number of people are very poor regarding to their spiritual wealth and some of them commit suicide and have a twisted spirit such as becoming a gay or becoming fond of abusing. Furthermore, the color in this series is wonderrful and expresses the core of the series and the painter's attitude. For eample, the white shirt on the man and his sick white facce make his sense of being scared and frightened more vivid. The wonderful combination of different colors polishes this series very well.

  1. I think those pictures are frightening. The facial expressions of the man are too scary. And he seemed to manage to eat a knife. What does that mean? The series of pictures are more likely to be taken from a Japanese ghost movie!

  2. In my own view, I do not think this kind of art should be exhibited in museum since many children would see it and I think this man's facial expression may scare them. Besides, I do not like this art because I think art should show some good things in our life instead of some horrible feelings.

  3. I do not think the artist really needs to use such extreme ways to express their opinions. I think the reason why they do it this way is that they want to draw other people's attention to tell others that they are special. i think that is their misunderstanding of the aim of art.
