We should never stop pursuing better personalities

As we talk more and more about personality, it seems what we should do is to accept who we are, both the good and bad side. It is wrong. We learn knowledge about personality to understand people as well as ourselves better, to know what the person’s advantages and disadvantages are, but not to accept. We accept the disadvantages only when we have to. Since we are young, we should straggle to change our personality and the more we straggle, the more we earn.

No person is perfect, but there must be someone is best. The best person is the one with more good features and less bad features. Excellent person also have shortages, but less. The reason why we attend university education is partly because our personalities are not good enough for us to be succeed in the society. We come here to learn and to develop. It’s our duty to fight against the shortages we have.

That we have too many shortages cannot be the reason to accept these shortages. If we accept the person who we are in our early 20s, we would be in the standard of this age during our whole life. That we play computer games in the past can’t be the reason of playing computer games tonight. That we used to be untidy can’t allow us don’t washing face tomorrow morning. We can’t be the friend of our shortages because once we accept them, we are defeated by ourselves.

Personality should not be an excuse. We can do a lot of things to change who we are. If we fight, we may lose. If we don’t fight, we already lose. We can be defeated, but cannot be defeated by ourselves.

  1. well, i disagree with you. firstly, no one is perfect, and no one is the best.you can say in some circumstances, a kind of personality can contribute to success better, but you cannot be sure that will always work. when it comes to success in society, well, not all successful people in society share the same personality. some of them are shy but hardworking, and some are quite sociable. it's easier and better to find your real personality and pursue a career suitable to you, rather than wasting time trying to change yourselves in order to adapt to unsuitable career.

  2. In my opinion, there is no such successful personality that is suitable to all cases and has no bad effects in the world. "Everyone has its own strengths and weaknesses"is a relative saying. What we can do is to try all best to protect ourselves from the bad effects of our personalities and make the use of our personalities to the fullest.

  3. I do not think that personalities can be recoganized bad or good. The only problem there is that whether your personality suit you. If you are to study, lazy is definitely not good for. But we cannot deny it is due to people's lazyness that some good ideas came and a lot of tools for convenience have been invented.

  4. Actually, I think your point is that no matter how well we know our own personalities, we should not be satisfied with it and stop changing ourself because there are always some disadvantages that we need to kick out from our characters. am I right? in this point, i agree with you. I do not want to be perfect with all kinds of good virtues , just would like to be better. haha is it the same with your opinion? I consider you come up with a good idea about our personalities.

  5. I do not think we have to pursue personality which in others opinion is good. We should remain our own personality, that is the identity of oneself. Maybe we could enhance our personalities, but never give them up to pursue a 'better' one.

  6. I agree that we should look at our shortcomings and make amends. Suppose we have the tendency to alaways keep others waiting for us, then we should strive to be punctual. I wonder whether there is a set of personalities that lead to success. Some studies have been done suggesting that type"A" personality makes good leaders. However, people change as they grow up and they are cotninuously influenced by the environment.

  7. personality is always an issue to discuss. but actully according Freud, everybody has three charactors. each one often differ a lot from each other. then how shall we decide which charactor can represent a person? even people's values vary from each other, shall we do something against our own value to satisfy others? i think we should first think it through that what we are pursuing.
