blog 10

Our bridging course is coming to an end. When I look over, I find I really improved a lot. So I am writing a blog to mark the improvement of me after the bridging course.
Firstly, my English listening skill has been improved apparently. Before the bridging course, I could hardly understand what people were saying in English, nor could I understand an English movie without subtitle. During the courses, our tutors taught us in English, and we SM3 students were asked to talk in English in classroom. Thus, my English listening skill was improving every day. Now, I can almost understand what people are talking using English, and I can roughly know the meaning of an English movie without subtitle.
In addition, I have leant how to learn an English essay. When I was in China, I could only write so called English compositions which are around 100 words for each. While, during the bridging course, I was taught to write many sorts of English essays in a standard way. Now, I know how to organize my essay, I know how to use punctuations and words properly. In terms of length, I can write an English essay around 450 words. If I am now asked to write a so called English composition as in high school, I am afraid I cannot stop at 100 words. Even a paragraph can be longer than that!
Finally, I find I can now present in front of people. When I was in China, I hardly got a chance to speak in front of people. If there were a chance, I would try to avoid it because I was afraid of speaking in front of people. During the bridging course, it was made compulsory for us to speak in front of the whole class. Thus, I have done a lot of oral reports and presentations. At first, I was very nervous to speak. But now, nerve will not disturb me a lot when I am presenting.
In my view, the skills I have leant in bridging course would be very useful in university time. So, I treasure our bridging course a lot. But I am now still looking forward to our university courses.
