Telling story is a good way to teach
When we were children our parents always told stories to us. And fairy tales is a part of our childhood.
We started to know what is good and what is bad from stories and we also learnt some words from the story books. The story telling is good for children. For example, last Sunday I went to my host family. They have a little baby who is two years old, the father told me that he started telling stories from the Holy Bible to his baby since the baby was born. And he never stopped. To his surprise, the baby can fill the words he forgot to say in sentences. Now the father always omits some words intentionally, and asks the baby to fill in. I think this is a good way to teach. Besides, the baby also can do things according to the rules told in the stories. Thus, stories let the baby learn more words and give him some principles of being human.
Stories are good material for children, they can not only learn the language but also have a good impression of the world and long for the nice future. Compared with other ways to teach children the advantage of telling stories is that the interesting plots can attract children to listen and children will absorb the context by themselves.
Despite the advantages above, telling stories to children can stimulate the imagination and the creative ability of children as well. The stories just open a door for children to the world of fantasy.
Totally, telling stories is a good way to teach children and can give them an interesting childhood.
Story is good! I think almost everyone of us began our childhood with stories either by listening or reading. Stories do give us principles of being human, telling a child what kinds of behavior is good and what kinds of behavior is bad.
ReplyDeleteI love stories, especially those beautiful fairy tales because it makes part of my childhood. I think it is good to tell children stories because it can easier catch their attention and teach them some general morals which are helpful in the future.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, i think it is better to read some novels than listen to stories or watch the long soup opera adapted from the originals because you will be affected by the story-teller or actors.
ReplyDeleteI pretty agree with you, stories really played an important role in our childrenhood. When we were yong, we could know a lot of things including how to become a better person by listening to the stories. And now in order to improve our English, I think that we could also read some English stories.
ReplyDeleteQuiet agree! In my opinion, compared to the normal way of telling what is right or wrong, teaching by telling stories can lead children to think by themselves. And in this way, it is better for them to improve their own ability to judge and imagination as well.
ReplyDeleteYour idea is quite good and you provide enough supplementary to support your idea, but the body of the article is not clearly organised. I suggest you use the story of host family as the hook to bring in the topic and then tell the advantages of story one by one, firstly, learn new words;secondly, learn principles in life;thirdly, stimulate creativity. Besides, the fourth paragraph is about why telling stories has those advantages, so it may not included in the body.
ReplyDeleteMy parents did the same thing when I was a little baby, and as for me ,I am really enjoy their stories. Story is the first teacher to help us form the value of the world and teach us how to be a good person.
ReplyDeleteFairy tales brings us with miraculous events and it opens the magic door for me. Moreover, thanks to these stories, I develop my habit of reading and writing. However, nowadays many people ignore the importance of telling stories to their child ,and I am very happy that your host family keep this habit.
